Description

The Kelverton large inverted pendant pairs a 450mm bowl of Tiffany-style leaded glass with an adjustable drop of 600mm to 1000mm, so it can hang high in a hall or low over a table. The shade faces upward, which sends light onto the ceiling and lets it come back into the room softened. Three E27 lampholders are fitted inside, each taking an LED bulb of up to 10W, and at 2.4kg it is one of the lighter fittings of its size in the range. Bulbs are not included.

Upward light suits rooms that are used in the evening and lived in slowly: a sitting room, a dining room, or a landing that needs gentle light rather than a bright pool. The 450mm bowl fills the space above a four to six seat table nicely without dominating a medium sized room. The multicoloured glass belongs naturally in Victorian and Edwardian houses, and it reads as a warm, patterned focal point in a modern room with plain walls. It carries an IP20 rating and is intended for dry indoor use.

Coloured glass panels are set into soldered metal seams and carried on a metal frame, so the shade has a solid feel and picks up different tones as daylight shifts. Dust with a dry soft cloth, lift marks with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately, and keep household sprays and abrasive creams well away from the seams. The fitting is Class 1 and needs an earthed supply, and it dims with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs. A Kelverton semi flush and a Kelverton flush ceiling light cover rooms with less height in the same range.
