Description

A compact square outdoor wall light with a clean, unfussy face and a shallow body, finished in sand black. It measures 70mm across, so it reads as a small block of light rather than a lantern, and it takes a single GU10 lamp of up to 10W. There is no switch on the body, so it is worked from your existing wall switch, and it is not dimmable. A small LED reflector lamp suits it best, and we would choose a warm white one.

We reach for it on porches, beside back doors and along garden walls where a full lantern would look heavy. Rated for outdoor use, it shrugs off dust and driven rain, so it is as happy on an open elevation as it is under a covered entrance. A pair either side of a door frames the opening neatly, and several spaced along a boundary wall or a garage front give steady light without the glare of a flood. It suits flats, terraces and newer extensions, and anyone who wants the fitting to disappear by day and simply do its job after dark.

The housing is sturdy for its size and the sand black finish is matt and finely textured, which keeps rain marks and fingerprints from showing. Keep it clean in dry weather: brush cobwebs and grit from the edges, then wipe the faces with a damp cloth and dry them off, with the power off and the lamp cool. It carries a two year warranty. We stock the range in round as well as square, in anthracite, sand white and rust brown, and in a two lamp version where one head is not enough. Lamps are not included.
