Description

A small squared outdoor wall light, 150mm tall and shallow in its projection, finished in a fine grained sand black that stays quiet against brick and render. It holds two GU10 lamps, each rated to 10W, and it is not dimmable, so it is simple on and off switching rather than scene setting. There is no switch on the body, so it runs from whatever controls the circuit. We reach for something like this where a lantern would look too fussy beside a modern door.

It suits front doors, porches and side passages, and pairs of them look right either side of a doorway or spaced along a garden wall. Because it is rated for outdoor use and shrugs off dust and splashing water, it is happy in open positions as well as under a canopy. Garage walls, back steps, balconies and the wall of a garden room all take it well. We would put a warm white lamp in it for a doorway and a cooler one where you want the light to read as purely functional, over a bin store or a workshop door.

The housing is compact and squared off, with the sand black finish carrying a slight grain that hides fingermarks and weathering better than a gloss would. Give it a wipe with a damp cloth when you clean the windows nearby, then dry it off; grit and salt air dull any dark exterior finish if left on it. Let the lamps cool and cut the power before you go near them. It carries a two year warranty. We stock the square shape in anthracite, sand white and rust brown as well, and there are round versions in the same finishes if you prefer a softer outline. Lamps are not included.
