Description
The Kamarne is a round LED downlight that sits recessed into the ceiling, with an aluminium body and a satin nickel trim. The trim is 8.8cm across, and its brushed outer ring curves down into a polished inner bowl around a ribbed reflector. The light comes from an integrated LED that draws 6W and gives 450 lumens of warm light at 2700K, a soft, cosy tone that suits evenings at home. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoor rooms that stay dry.
We would fit a row of these in a living room, hallway, landing, bedroom or study, wherever you want even light from a clean ceiling rather than a hanging shade. Because it is dimmable, you can bring the light down for a film and turn it up again for reading, so one set of downlights covers the whole day. The satin nickel trim sits comfortably beside brushed metal handles, grey walls and soft whites, and it is small enough to keep the ceiling looking uncluttered.
It runs on mains power at 220-240V and has no switch of its own, so you turn it on and off at the wall. The LED is built in and cannot be replaced, which means no bulbs to buy, though it is worth knowing before you choose. A pair of sprung clips holds the light in the ceiling, and it weighs 0.18KG packed. A wired-in light like this one is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download. Before you order, check that the ceiling can take a cut-out 6.8cm wide with 5.6cm of clear depth for the body.
