Description

The Joressa is a two-tier glass chandelier: eighteen candle lights sit on arms of twisted cognac glass, with strings of faceted glass droplets swagged between them and a cognac glass bowl at the centre. It hangs on a chrome chain from a chrome ceiling canopy, and the steel body is finished in chrome, which shows on the canopy, the chain and the candle sleeves. Overall it stands 150cm tall and measures 100cm in diameter, so this pendant is made for a generous room. It takes eighteen E14 bulbs of up to 40W each, and the bulbs are not included. The IP20 rating settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

We think it looks its best above a long dining table, where the cognac glass catches the light from every arm and the droplets add sparkle. It would sit just as happily in a formal living room or a hallway with a high ceiling. Plan the height with care: at 150cm overall it wants a tall room, with enough clearance that the lowest droplets stay well above head height. The cognac glass has a warmer tone than clear glass, which sits well with wood, cream and dark painted walls, while the chrome keeps the whole piece bright rather than heavy.

Every lamp holder takes an E14 bulb, and a candle-shaped bulb suits the chrome sleeves best. There is no switch on the pendant itself, so it runs from your wall switch on a 220-240V, 50/60Hz supply. As a mains light that is wired in, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
