Description

The Jelvine is a linear pendant light in white: a slim steel ceiling bar with three faceted dome shades hanging from it on fine cords. Each shade is built from triangular panels with narrow cut-outs between them, so it reads as a crisp geometric shape in daylight and lets a little light through its sides once lit. The fitting is 75cm long and 17cm wide, with an overall height of 110cm, and it takes three E14 bulbs of up to 40W each, which are not included. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

Three shades in a row make the Jelvine a natural choice over a dining table, a kitchen island or a breakfast bar, where a single central pendant can leave the ends of the surface in shadow. At 75cm long, it spreads its light along the length of the table instead of pooling it all in the middle. The white finish stays light on the eye against pale walls and sits comfortably in modern, Scandinavian or relaxed country rooms. It also suits an open-plan living space or a long hallway, anywhere you want to mark out one area with a defined line of light.

The body is steel, a material that is strong and holds its shape, and it is finished in white on the inside of the shades as well as the outside. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, so it runs from your wall switch. It works on 220-240V mains, and as a wired-in light it is installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions are available as a download, and the packed weight is 2.637KG. Pick up three E14 bulbs of up to 40W each before fitting day, so the light can be used the moment it is hung.
