Description
The Jellicoe Candlestick is a low, handled holder for a single candle, made from aluminium in a brushed gold finish. Its shape follows the old chamberstick: a flared dish with a round candle socket rising from its centre, and a flat loop handle that springs from the side of the dish and curves round to meet the top of the socket. It is 9.5cm long, 7.5cm wide and just 5cm tall, so it sits low and neat, and at 0.08KG it weighs next to nothing in the hand. As it holds a candle rather than a bulb, there is no wiring and no plug, and you can place it wherever you like indoors.
Being so small and light, it suits the spots a taller candlestick would crowd: a bedside table, a windowsill, a narrow mantelpiece or the middle of a dinner table, where a few look good grouped together. The loop handle gives you something to hold, so it is easy to lift and move from room to room as the evening goes. The brushed gold has a soft, warm sheen rather than a mirror shine, so it sits comfortably beside wood, linen and stone as well as brass and other gold pieces. We think it makes a thoughtful small gift too, for anyone who loves candlelight.
Each candlestick is handmade, and every piece is unique, so expect small differences in the brushing, the curve of the handle and the joins from piece to piece. We see those marks as part of the appeal rather than a flaw. Aluminium is a light metal, which is why the whole piece weighs so little. For the neatest look, stand it on a flat, level surface and choose candles of different heights when you group several, so the flames sit at varied levels across the table.

Frequently Asked
What material is the Jellicoe Candlestick?
It is made from aluminium with a brushed gold finish, and that light metal keeps the whole piece to just 0.08KG.
How big is this candlestick?
It is 9.5cm long, 7.5cm wide and 5cm tall, so it sits low and takes up very little room on a table or shelf.
Why does it have a handle?
The loop handle follows the traditional chamberstick shape and gives you something to hold, so it is easy to lift and carry from room to room.
Is every candlestick identical?
No. Each piece is handmade and every piece is unique, so small differences in the brushing, the handle and the joins are part of its character.
Where in the home does it work best?
We see it as an indoor piece: it suits a bedside table, a windowsill, a mantelpiece or the middle of a dining table.
What sort of gold finish does it have?
It has a brushed gold finish with a soft, warm sheen rather than a mirror shine, which sits well beside wood, linen, stone and brass.
