Description

This cheerful porcelain mug comes with its own round coaster, a bright little set made for the first cup of the day. The mug is a soft pale blue, with "It's A Caffeine Kind Of Day" printed across the front in rounded, bubbly letters of orange, pink, yellow, blue and mint. Inside, the walls are lined with rainbow stripes, so every sip ends on a flash of colour. The twisted handle is a gentle mint green, a plaited loop that gives your fingers something pleasing to hold. It takes 300ml, a good everyday measure for tea or coffee, and stands 9cm tall, 13cm wide and 10.5cm deep.

The coaster is a round disc patterned with a chequerboard of red, pink, yellow, green, blue and lilac squares on cream, so the pair look made for each other without matching too neatly. Together they brighten a kitchen worktop beside the kettle, a desk at home or at work, or a bedside table for a slow weekend cup. The slogan raises a smile on a busy morning, and the coaster gives your mug its own spot so it is never left perching on papers or the arm of the sofa. As a gift, the set needs little more than a ribbon, because the mug and coaster already come together as a pair.

The mug is porcelain, with a soft matt finish on the outside and a mint handle twisted like a plait. The underside of the coaster is a plain speckled brown with a cream rim. To keep the print and stripes looking bright, we suggest washing the mug by hand in warm soapy water and drying it with a soft cloth, and wiping the coaster with a damp cloth. Pair the set with a bag of good coffee or a favourite tea for an easy gift, or keep it for your own desk.
