Description

This is a compact black bar of light, 270mm long and slim with it, that rides on a track and tilts to aim where the light is wanted. The LED is integral, with the driver built in, and it throws a fairly narrow beam rather than a broad wash, so it picks out a surface instead of filling a room. Output is warm white at 3000K, which keeps timber, brick and paint looking warm. It is not dimmable; it runs at full 30W whenever the circuit is live.

We reach for heads like this where a run of light needs to follow a worktop, a shelf or a row of pictures, and where a pendant would sit in the way. On a kitchen island it can be angled along the length of the top; in a shop or a studio it does honest work over stock, samples or a bench. The linear shape suits things that are themselves long, which round spots handle less neatly. Because the light is warm and fixed in level, it suits rooms lit on a switch rather than a dimmer.

The body is finished in black throughout, matt and low key, so the fitting reads as a dark line against a white ceiling. It is double insulated, and made for indoor rooms away from damp. To clean, switch off at the wall, let it cool a moment, then wipe the housing and the face of the fitting with a dry cloth; nothing wet and nothing abrasive. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the same head in white if you would rather it disappear against the plaster, and in a cooler white version in both finishes where a crisper light is wanted.
