Description

The Knightsbridge JB002 is an IP68-rated 3-pole inline cable connector designed for joining or extending outdoor and underwater electrical cables in wet or submerged environments. Rated to IP68 at 5 bar pressure, the connector maintains a watertight seal when fully assembled and tightened, making it suitable for garden lighting, pond pumps, outdoor CCTV installations and other exposed low-voltage applications.

The connector accepts cable diameters from 5mm to 14mm and is designed for use with H07RNF 3G flexible cable in cross-sections from 0.75mm² to 4.0mm². Each of the three poles uses a nickel-plated copper screw terminal, which resists corrosion in damp conditions and provides a secure mechanical connection to stranded conductors. The connector body is moulded from PA99 material rated to UL94-V0 flame class, with a silicone sealing gasket that compresses when the gland nuts are tightened to form the IP68 seal.

At 85mm long and 32mm diameter when assembled, the connector sits inline on a cable run without needing a separate junction box or surface-mounted enclosure. The assembly is two-part: each end has a cable gland that compresses around the outer sheath of the incoming cable, and the centre section houses the three screw terminals. Once wiring is complete and both glands are tightened, the connector can be buried, submerged or left exposed to weather. The black finish reduces visibility in soil and water.

What cable sizes does it accept?

The connector accepts cable outer diameters from 5mm to 14mm and is designed for H07RNF 3G flexible cable in cross-sections from 0.75mm² to 4.0mm². Both cables being joined must fall within this range for the gland seals to compress properly and maintain the IP68 rating.

Can it be used underwater?

Yes. The IP68 rating at 5 bar pressure means the connector can be submerged in water up to approximately 50 metres depth when correctly assembled. Common applications include pond lighting, fountain pumps and outdoor water features.

How is the IP68 seal achieved?

Each cable gland has a silicone sealing gasket that compresses around the cable outer sheath when the gland nut is tightened. Correct installation requires the cable sheath to be clean, undamaged and within the 5-14mm diameter range, and both gland nuts must be fully hand-tightened.

What voltage and current is it rated for?

The connector is rated at 16A 450V with a PTI (Proof Tracking Index) of 250 and a maximum operating temperature of 85°C. It is certified to EN 50262 for outdoor cable joining applications.
