Hornbaek Outdoor Wall Light - Black IP44

The Hornbaek is a 245mm-tall outdoor wall light built from 304-grade stainless steel with a black powder-coated finish, housing a single E27 bulb behind a cylindrical clear glass diffuser with horizontal banding. The torchiere-style head mounts on a short arm that projects 150mm from the wall, with the glass cylinder protected by four horizontal metal bands that match the body finish. The IP44 rating allows installation in covered outdoor positions exposed to splash and moisture.

Designed for patios, covered porches, garage entrances, and sheltered exterior walls, the Hornbaek provides task lighting at head height without needing a ceiling mounting point. The 90mm width keeps the profile compact against narrow wall sections, while the 150mm projection gives clearance for the glass cylinder without the light sitting too far into walkways. The E27 socket accepts standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W, allowing control over light temperature and brightness depending on the application.

The 304 stainless steel core resists corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments, while the powder coating adds a second layer of weatherproofing and gives the matt black finish. The horizontal metal bands around the glass cylinder protect the diffuser from side impacts and give the light its torchiere appearance, with light escaping upwards, downwards and through the gaps between bands. The clear glass shows the bulb when lit, so pairing with a vintage-style filament LED or a frosted bulb changes the character of the fitting.

What bulb does it take?

The Hornbaek takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor ambient lighting, or a vintage-style filament LED if the bulb will be visible through the clear glass.

Can this be used in exposed outdoor locations?

The IP44 rating means the light is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. It suits covered porches, sheltered patios, and garage entrances but should not be installed in fully exposed positions subject to driving rain or direct water jets.

Is the glass cylinder replaceable if broken?

The glass diffuser is a separate component held by the horizontal metal bands. Contact Elstead Lighting for replacement parts if the glass is damaged. The metal bands provide some impact protection during normal use.

How is it mounted?

The Hornbaek mounts to a standard outdoor electrical box via the backplate. The 150mm projection means the light sits clear of the wall surface, so ensure the mounting surface is flat and the box is securely fixed to the structure.
