The Hoop Twin is a rectangular recessed downlight fitting two GX53 bulbs within a 220mm x 110mm white frame constructed from aluminium and plastic. The fitting sits flush with the ceiling once installed, with a 45mm depth that fits into most standard ceiling voids without requiring additional structural work. Each of the two GX53 sockets accepts bulbs up to 15W (sold separately), allowing the user to choose the colour temperature and brightness that suits the room.

Designed for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and commercial spaces needing broader coverage than a single downlight provides, the twin configuration spreads light across a wider area with fewer ceiling cut-outs. The rectangular footprint works well above kitchen worktops, bathroom vanities and office desks where linear light distribution is more useful than a circular spread. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations, so it is not suitable for zones 1 or 2 in bathrooms.

The white finish on the aluminium frame sits flush with the ceiling surface and disappears into white or light-coloured ceilings, leaving the two circular apertures as the only visible elements. The fixed design means the light direction cannot be adjusted once installed, so the fitting is best suited to positions where vertical downward light is needed rather than angled accent lighting. The combination of aluminium construction and plastic trim ring keeps the fitting lightweight while providing structural rigidity for the cut-out.

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting takes two GX53 bulbs up to 15W each. GX53 is a twist-and-lock base commonly used in low-profile recessed fittings. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm white LED GX53 bulbs between 7-11W and 2700K-3000K.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable only for dry indoor locations. It cannot be used in bathroom zones 1 or 2 where moisture protection is required. It can be installed in zone 3 or outside the zones if the bathroom is well-ventilated and the fitting is positioned away from direct water spray.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The fitting requires a minimum 45mm ceiling void depth above the plasterboard for the body to recess fully. Most modern suspended ceilings and timber joist ceilings provide adequate depth, but older solid ceilings may not accommodate recessed fittings without modification.

Is the light direction adjustable?

No. The Hoop Twin is a fixed downlight, meaning the light direction cannot be adjusted after installation. The bulbs emit light vertically downward from the ceiling surface.
