Description

The Hoop is a 110mm square recessed downlight with a matt black aluminium faceplate surrounding a gold-finished reflector and a GX53 bulb fitting. The fixed downlight sits flush with the ceiling once installed, with the black square frame providing a defined geometric aperture and the gold inner reflector adding warm tonal contrast when the lamp is lit.

Designed for general and accent lighting in residential living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and commercial hospitality or retail settings, the Hoop suits ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. The GX53 fitting accepts standard GX53 LED lamps up to 15W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose colour temperature and beam angle depending on whether the fitting is used for ambient wash or directed accent light. The IP20 rating limits use to dry interior spaces only.

The black and gold finish pairing works in both contemporary and classical interiors, with the matt black reducing glare reflection under daylight and the gold reflector warming the light output when the lamp is on. The aluminium construction keeps the fitting lightweight at under 200g, and the 52mm installation depth accommodates most standard ceiling void depths. The square aperture measures 110mm on each side, making it slightly larger than typical 90mm round downlights and giving more visual presence when multiple fittings are installed on a grid layout.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The fitting requires a minimum 52mm ceiling void depth for installation. This is the vertical clearance needed above the ceiling surface to accommodate the downlight housing and bulb.

What bulb does it take?

The Hoop uses a GX53 bulb up to 15W. GX53 is a flat disc-shaped lamp with two pins, commonly used in low-profile recessed fittings. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture ingress and is suitable for dry interior spaces only. Bathrooms require IP44 or higher rated fittings in zones 1 and 2.

Is the downlight tiltable or fixed?

Fixed. The light output direction is perpendicular to the ceiling and cannot be angled once installed. For adjustable recessed downlights, search for gimbal or directional variants at Niori.
