Description

This layered wooden plaque pairs a soft grey panel with a natural wood backing board, and across the panel runs a fine grey line drawing of a jar filled with flowers. Daisy-like blooms, slender leaves and sprigs of foliage spill over the rim, and inside the jar the words read 'may your HOME be filled with HAPPINESS', finished with a little pair of leafy sprigs. The panel has a glazed finish over a faint brushed texture, and a slim border of wood shows on every side, which is what gives the piece its layered look. It measures 12.5cm wide and 1.5cm deep, a neat rectangle that fits easily on a shelf.

Its gentle wording makes it a natural housewarming gift, a warm welcome for someone settling into a new home, and the sentiment works just as well as a birthday present for anyone who loves a homely touch. In the home itself it sits happily on a hallway console, a living room shelf, a mantelpiece or a bedside table, and it brings a cheerful line to a kitchen windowsill. The soft grey and natural wood tones sit easily alongside cream, white and neutral schemes, country cottage styling and simple Scandinavian-inspired rooms.

A stand on the back of the board holds the plaque upright, so it needs no wall, nails or fixings and can be moved from room to room whenever you fancy a change. At 1.5cm deep it takes up very little room, leaving space beside it for a trinket dish, a small vase or a favourite photograph. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth and wipe the glazed panel with a slightly damp cloth when needed, keeping the wood dry. For a housewarming, we like to tuck it into a gift bag with a bunch of flowers, so the drawn jar on the panel echoes the real thing.
