Hollis 5 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Heritage Brass with Opal Glass

The Hollis is a 5 light semi-flush ceiling fitting from Hinkley, spanning 813mm across a branched heritage brass frame with five opal etched glass globes. Each globe is held in place by a brass band that wraps the equator of the sphere, leaving the upper and lower hemispheres open to show the opal glass. The five E14 sockets sit inside the globes, which diffuse the light in all directions.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3-2.7m where a full pendant would hang too low, the Hollis semi-flush projects 305mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for kitchens, dining rooms, hallways and bedrooms. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zone 2, where the fitting sits at least 600mm from a shower head or bath edge. The branched frame spreads the five light sources across a wide diameter, providing even ambient coverage across a 12-15m² room.

The heritage brass finish sits between polished brass and antique brass, with a warm satin tone that shows minimal tarnish over time. The opal etched glass hides the bulb filament or LED element from direct view, preventing glare when the fitting is installed in a low-ceiling space where the globes sit close to eye level. The combined weight of the brass frame and five glass globes requires a ceiling mounting rated for at least 3kg.

Each of the five globes takes a separate E14 bulb up to 40W, allowing a total combined output of 200W if using halogen or 50-60W if using LED equivalents. The E14 socket size gives access to candle-style bulbs, golf-ball bulbs, and decorative filament LED options.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zone 2, meaning it must be at least 600mm away from a shower head, bath tap or basin tap. It cannot be installed directly above a bath or inside a shower cubicle.

What bulbs does it take?

The Hollis takes five E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 5-6W warm-white LED candle or golf-ball bulbs in 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting projects 305mm from the ceiling, so it works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above. In a 2.4m room the bottom of the globes will sit approximately 2.1m from the floor, clear of head height in most residential settings.

What size room does it suit?

The 813mm width and five separate light sources provide ambient coverage for rooms of 12-15m² (roughly 3.5m x 4m). Larger rooms may benefit from pairing the Hollis with additional wall lights or task lighting.
