Description

The Holborn is a 2 light outdoor flush ceiling light built from solid brass in a dark bronze finish, with four bevelled glass panels enclosing two E27 lamp holders. The flush-mount design sits tight to the ceiling, making it suitable for porches, covered terraces and porch canopies with limited headroom where a pendant or lantern would hang too low.

Rated IP44 for protection against dust and water splashes, the Holborn works on covered outdoor areas such as front porches, side entrances, garage door canopies and terrace ceilings. The clear bevelled glass diffuses the light from two E27 bulbs (sold separately) while the solid brass construction and dark bronze finish resist corrosion in exposed conditions. The rectangular slatted detail on the frame references traditional lantern design and adds visual depth when viewed from below.

The 165mm height and flush-mount plate allow the fitting to be installed on ceilings as low as 2.1m without creating a head-strike hazard. The dark bronze finish provides a rich, aged metal tone that pairs well with brick, stone, painted timber and render facades on traditional, Victorian and Georgian-style properties. The solid brass construction gives the fitting a weight and solidity absent from aluminium alternatives.

The IP44 rating provides protection against dust and water splashes, but not direct rain or submersion. It is designed for covered outdoor areas such as porches, terrace ceilings and garage canopies where it is sheltered from direct downpours.

What bulbs does it take?

The Holborn takes two E27 bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED filament bulbs at 2700K to complement the traditional styling and dark bronze finish.

Can it be fitted to a low porch ceiling?

Yes. The flush-mount design and 165mm total height make it suitable for porch ceilings as low as 2.1m without creating a head-strike risk. This is one of the primary advantages of a flush fitting over a hanging lantern in tight porch spaces.

How is the dark bronze finish maintained?

Wipe the brass frame with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes that can strip the patinated finish. The bevelled glass can be cleaned with standard glass cleaner when the power is isolated.
