Description

The Hive is a 260mm diameter table lamp with a matt black painted metal stem and base, supporting a fabric shade lined with gold PVC sheet. The shade exterior is black fabric, while the interior is finished in reflective gold, creating contrast when the lamp is switched on. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) inside the shade directs light through the gold lining, casting warm-toned ambient light into the room.

Designed for bedside tables, desks and side tables in living rooms and home offices, the Hive provides task and ambient lighting without taking up much surface area. The weighted metal base keeps the lamp stable on narrow shelves and side tables, while the compact 260mm footprint allows it to fit alongside books, alarm clocks and bedside essentials. The IP20 rating limits the lamp to dry indoor locations.

The matt black finish on the metal base and stem provides low-glare surfaces that work in both contemporary and traditional interiors, while the gold-lined shade adds warmth to the light quality. When switched off, the lamp reads as monochrome black; when lit, the gold interior reflects through the fabric weave, softening the light output and giving the shade a subtle glow. The lamp stands approximately 400mm tall from base to shade top, sitting at a comfortable height for reading or desk work.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does it take?

The Hive takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for bedside or desk reading.

Is it dimmable?

No. The Hive does not have built-in dimming capability and is not designed for use with external dimmer switches. Use a lower-wattage bulb if softer light output is needed.

What height is the lamp?

The lamp stands approximately 400mm tall from the base to the top of the shade, making it suitable for standard bedside tables and desks without overwhelming the surface.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the Hive is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It should not be used in bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or any location where moisture or splashing is present.
