Description

This cheerful porcelain mug carries a happy message for anyone who spends their days in a classroom: "Helping Little Minds Grow" sits across the front in soft, rounded lettering in teal, pink and purple, scattered with little golden stars. Turn it around and there is a second design on the back, a smiling red apple perched on a stack of colourful books, each one printed with a gentle reminder: always be good, be kind, work hard, shine bright, don't give up and try your best. The body is a warm cream with a white interior, and the mug stands 10cm tall, 12.5cm wide and 8cm deep, with a large rounded handle.

We think it makes a lovely thank you gift for a teacher, whether it comes from a whole class or from one grateful family. Because the design runs on both sides, it reads well whichever way it is set down, so the encouraging words stay on show on a busy desk, a staffroom shelf or a kitchen counter at home. It suits the first cup of tea before the bell or a quiet coffee once the marking is done, and it is a cheerful reminder of the difference a good teacher makes every day.

Porcelain gives the mug a smooth, glossy glaze that shows off the bright prints on its cream base. To keep the colours looking their best, we suggest washing it gently by hand in warm soapy water with a soft cloth and drying it before it goes back in the cupboard. For a gift with a little extra care, tuck a few tea bags or a bar of chocolate inside and add a handwritten card from the children; it turns a simple mug into a thank you that will be used for many terms to come.
