Description

The Helixis Outdoor Small Downlight is a 90mm square surface-mounted ceiling or soffit light finished in anthracite powder-coated die-cast aluminium. The fitting takes a single GU10 bulb (sold separately) behind a frosted tempered glass diffuser, and carries an IP54 rating for protection against dust ingress and water splashes from any angle.

Designed for outdoor porches, covered walkways, building entrances and sheltered patio ceilings, the Helixis mounts directly to solid surfaces without needing a recessed housing. The 90mm square footprint and 90mm projection allow it to fit onto soffit boards and external ceilings where cutting a hole for a recessed downlight is impractical. The frosted glass diffuser spreads the light evenly downward and minimises direct glare from the bulb.

The die-cast aluminium construction provides dimensional stability across outdoor temperature ranges, while the anthracite powder coating resists UV degradation and corrosion from rain exposure. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a suitable GU10 LED bulb and compatible dimmer switch. The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes, but not direct rain exposure or submersion. The Helixis is suitable for covered porches, soffits, and sheltered outdoor ceilings where the fitting is not directly exposed to falling rain.

What bulb should I use?

The fitting takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W halogen equivalent. Most users install a warm-white LED GU10 between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor accent and security lighting. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a dimmable GU10 LED bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. Non-dimmable GU10 bulbs will function at full brightness but cannot be dimmed.

How is it mounted?

The Helixis is surface-mounted directly to the ceiling or soffit using screws through the back plate. A cable entry point on the back plate connects to mains wiring, and the fitting does not require a recessed housing or cut-out.
