Description

The Helixis is a 150mm cube surface-mounted downlight in anthracite powder-coated die-cast aluminium, designed for outdoor ceiling and soffit installation. The downlight takes one GU10 bulb (sold separately) behind a frosted tempered glass diffuser that directs light downward while softening the beam spread. The IP54 rating protects the internal components against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction.

Designed for exterior soffits, covered porches, carports and building entrances, the Helixis mounts directly to the ceiling surface without recessing. The 150mm square footprint and 150mm projection suit standard UK soffit depths and porch ceilings. The fixture includes a 1550mm cable run for wiring back to a junction box or outdoor wiring system, giving flexibility on mounting position relative to the power source.

The anthracite finish is a dark grey powder coat applied over die-cast aluminium, giving corrosion resistance and a low-reflectance surface that sits quietly against darker soffits and fascia boards. The frosted glass diffuser reduces glare when viewed from below while maintaining adequate downward illumination for pathways, entrance steps and ground-level planting. The GU10 fitting is compatible with dimmable LED bulbs when paired with an appropriate outdoor dimmer module.

What bulb does it take and is one included?

The Helixis takes one GU10 bulb up to the maximum wattage specified by the manufacturer. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W GU10 LED in 3000K or 4000K depending on whether warm or neutral white light is preferred.

Can it be used in exposed outdoor locations?

The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas like soffits, porches and carports. It is not rated for full exposure to rain or submersion, so it should be mounted under a roof overhang or similar protection.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a dimmable GU10 bulb and an appropriate outdoor-rated dimmer module. The fixture itself supports dimming; the bulb and control system determine the dimming range and smoothness.

How is it mounted?

The Helixis surface-mounts to the ceiling or soffit using fixings through the backplate. The 1550mm cable run allows the fixture to be positioned away from the junction box, with the cable concealed in the ceiling void or soffit space.
