Description
This arched metal decoration carries a Harry Potter design built around the words History of Magic at Hogwarts, picked out in raised gold on a glazed black ground. Across the top of the arch runs the line "Teaching facts, not myths & legends", and beneath it sits an open book with a hand holding a wand over its pages, a feather quill to one side and a scatter of stars. The word Magic is set large in a curling script, with History of over it and At Hogwarts beneath, framed by small gold stars. The edge is finished in gold all the way round, and the decoration measures 18cm high, 6.6cm wide and 0.3cm deep.
It hangs from a deep red ribbon printed in gold with the Harry Potter name, so there is no hook to hunt for when the tree goes up. It sits just as happily on a garland along the mantelpiece or from a hook on a dresser through the Christmas weeks. As a Christmas gift it tucks easily into a stocking or alongside a card, and it makes a thoughtful addition to a tree that already carries a few wizarding pieces.
The decoration is made of metal, with the black areas of the face filled in a glazed epoxy that sits smooth and even against the raised gold. The reverse is plain gold, and the ribbon is held by a small clip at the top of the back so it rises centrally from the arch. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth, or wipe it with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away. We like it given a branch of its own with a little space around it, where the open book and wand can be seen in full.
