Description
The Haldmere wall light is the smallest fitting in the range at 290mm tall, 150mm wide and 200mm out from the wall, with one opal glass globe on a short matt antique brass arm. It weighs 0.7kg, which makes it one of the simplest wall lights to position and fix. A single E14 lamp behind the opal glass gives a soft, even light with no glare, so it stays comfortable at eye level in a corridor or beside a bed where you sit close to it.
We would use a pair of these wall sconces beside a bed, either side of a mirror, or spaced along a hallway. The fitting also works flanking a fireplace or in an alcove where a table lamp has nowhere to stand. The short 200mm projection keeps it out of the way in a narrow corridor. It suits anyone building a brass scheme who wants wall lighting that matches the ceiling fittings rather than fighting them for attention.
The arm and backplate are metal in a matt antique brass finish, with an opal glass globe over the lamp. It takes one E14 LED bulb of around 7W and is not dimmable, so wire it to a standard switch. Wipe the glass with a barely damp cloth once cool and dust the brass with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding polish and abrasive cleaners on the matt surface. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, and as a Class 1 fitting it needs an earthed supply. Pair it with the Haldmere pendant or semi-flush to run one finish through a room.

Frequently Asked
How far does it project?
200mm from the wall, in a fitting 290mm tall and 150mm wide. It weighs only 0.7kg.
Which bulb does it take?
One E14 candle bulb, and an LED of around 7W is a good match behind the opal glass.
Is it dimmable?
No. This one runs from a standard switch, so leave a dimmer out of the circuit.
What is the shade made from?
Opal glass, which softens the light so the fitting is comfortable to look at from close range.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the glass with a barely damp cloth once cool and dust the matt brass arm with a dry, soft cloth.
What height should I fit it at?
Around 1.5 metres from the floor works in a hallway, and a little lower beside a bed for reading.
