Description
The Knightsbridge GDL3 is a 1100mm garden bollard light built around a 304 stainless steel column with an anthracite powder-coated finish, housing a single GU10 lamp (sold separately) behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser. The diffuser creates a cone-effect light distribution, casting illumination downwards and outwards onto pathways, driveways and perimeter planting while minimising upward light spill.
Designed for residential garden paths, commercial pathway lighting and outdoor perimeter applications, the bollard carries an IP54 rating for protection against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction. The 1100mm height positions the light head at knee-to-thigh level on most adults, providing sufficient visibility along pathways without glare at eye level. The 102mm diameter column is ground-spikeable or can be surface-mounted onto a concrete base depending on installation requirements.
The 304 stainless steel construction resists corrosion in UK coastal and inland environments, with the anthracite powder coating adding a UV-stable outer layer that maintains colour consistency under sunlight. The GU10 fitting accepts halogen bulbs up to 35W or LED equivalents, with dimmability dependent on the specific bulb chosen. The opal diffuser softens the beam spread and hides the bulb filament or LED array from view, creating a more diffused light quality than clear lenses.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The bollard takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 35W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for pathway lighting. Both halogen and LED GU10 bulbs are compatible.
Is it suitable for coastal locations?
The 304 stainless steel construction provides good corrosion resistance in coastal environments. The anthracite powder coating adds a protective outer layer. For extreme salt-spray locations within 100m of the shoreline, periodic rinsing with fresh water will extend the finish lifespan.
How is the bollard installed?
The bollard can be ground-spiked into soil or turf, or surface-mounted onto a concrete base using the fixing points at the column base. A qualified electrician must connect the mains 230V supply through underground armoured cable or conduit to meet UK wiring regulations.
What does the IP54 rating mean?
IP54 means the bollard is protected against dust ingress (limited, but not harmful) and water splashing from any direction. It will withstand rain, garden hose spray and ground moisture, but is not designed for submersion or high-pressure washing.
