Description

The Knightsbridge VFRDGICW is a fixed fire-rated downlight with a GU10 lampholder, white die-cast bezel and a 72mm ceiling cut-out. The fitting carries a 30/60/90-minute fire rating when installed in solid timber ceilings, and 30-minute rating in web-joist and I-joist constructions, tested to BS476 Part 21 & 23 and compliant with Building Regulations Part B. The fixed bezel means the light direction is locked downward, making it suited to general room lighting rather than directional highlighting.

Designed for new-build residential, commercial and hospitality projects where Building Control requires fire-rated ceiling penetrations, the downlight accepts standard GU10 halogen bulbs up to 50W or retrofit LED and CFL lamps up to 60mm in length. The twist-and-lock front ring allows bulb replacement from below without accessing the ceiling void. The fitting is insulation compatible, so loft insulation can sit directly over the housing without creating a fire risk or overheating the lamp. Electrical termination is via a 10A connector block inside a secure enclosure with cord grip.

The die-cast construction combines pressed steel and aluminium for rigidity and heat dissipation. Spring clips fix the housing into the ceiling with a recommended maximum ceiling thickness of 30mm. The white powder-coat finish on the bezel blends into white ceilings or provides a defined accent on coloured ceilings. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations but not bathrooms or zones subject to direct water ingress. The 87mm diameter bezel and 5mm projection give a low-profile finish once installed.

The fitting is rated for 30/60/90 minutes in solid timber ceilings and 30 minutes in web-joist and I-joist constructions. It has been tested to BS476 Part 21 & 23 and meets Building Regulations Part B fire safety requirements.

Can insulation sit directly on top of the housing?

Yes. The fitting is insulation compatible, so loft insulation can sit directly over the housing without creating a fire risk or causing the lamp to overheat.

What bulb does it take and is one included?

The downlight takes a GU10 bulb up to 50W (halogen) or any retrofit LED or CFL lamp up to 60mm in length. Bulbs are not included and must be purchased separately.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations only, not bathrooms or areas subject to direct water contact or moisture ingress.
