Description

The Knightsbridge GU10 fixed fire-rated downlight combines a brass-finish bezel with a die-cast pressed steel and aluminium housing designed to maintain fire integrity in ceilings for 30, 60 or 90 minutes depending on substrate. The 72mm cut-out fits standard joists and the integrated intumescent seal expands under heat to close the aperture and prevent fire spread between floors.

Designed for residential and commercial new-build and retrofit projects where Building Regulations Part B fire safety compliance is required, the downlight accepts standard GU10 halogen or LED lamps up to 60mm length and 50W maximum. The insulation-compatible housing allows loft insulation to be laid over the fitting without creating a fire risk or overheating the lamp. The twist-and-lock front bezel allows lamp replacement from below without removing the housing from the ceiling void.

The brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that suits traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The 87mm bezel diameter and 5mm projection from the ceiling give a low-profile appearance once installed. Spring clips secure the housing into the ceiling void with a recommended maximum ceiling thickness of 30mm, and electrical termination is via a 10A connector block within the rear enclosure with a supplied cord grip for strain relief on the supply cable.

Fire testing to BS476 Part 21 and 23 confirms 30/60/90 minute integrity on solid timber joists, 30 minutes on web-joists, and 30 minutes on I-joists (Staircraft system). The IP20 rating suits dry internal locations including living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and offices, but not bathrooms or shower rooms where IP44 or higher is required.

What fire rating does this downlight carry?

The downlight is tested to BS476 Part 21 and 23, providing 30/60/90 minute fire integrity on solid timber joists, 30 minutes on web-joists, and 30 minutes on I-joists. The intumescent seal expands under heat to close the aperture and prevent fire spread between floors.

Can insulation be laid over the housing?

Yes. The housing is insulation-compatible, meaning loft insulation can be laid directly over the fitting without creating overheating or fire risk. This is a Building Regulations requirement in many loft conversions and new builds.

Does it come with a GU10 bulb?

No. The downlight accepts any standard GU10 halogen or LED lamp up to 60mm length and 50W maximum. GU10 LED bulbs are sold separately at Niori and most users pair this with a 5-7W warm white LED.

Is the bezel adjustable or fixed?
