Three E27 bulb fittings sit inside the shade, which is painted white on the interior surface to diffuse light evenly across the glass. The 194mm overall height from ceiling to base means the fitting sits close to the ceiling plane without protruding as far as a pendant.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.6m where a pendant drop would feel too low, the Griffin suits hallways, bedrooms, low-ceilinged living rooms and kitchen areas needing ambient overhead light without a long drop. The semi-flush format keeps the shade visible as a decorative element while maintaining headroom clearance. The weathered brass finish shows through the glass as a warm metallic frame, visible when the light is off and softened by the diffused glow when the bulbs are lit.

The etched glass shade scatters light across its surface rather than directing it downward in a focused beam, creating even illumination across a 3-4m room when fitted with three LED or filament bulbs between 6-10W each. What bulbs does the Griffin take?

The fitting takes three E27 bulbs up to 60W each, sold separately. Most users fit warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700-3000K for ambient room lighting. Frosted or clear glass bulbs both work, though frosted reduces glare when viewed from below.

Is this suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 194mm fitting height means the lowest point of the shade sits approximately 190mm below the ceiling once installed, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.6m where a pendant would sit too low for comfortable headroom.

How is the glass shade cleaned?

The etched glass can be wiped with a soft microfibre cloth and standard glass cleaner once the bulbs are removed and the fitting is switched off at the mains. The white-painted interior should not be scrubbed aggressively as this may wear the paint layer over time.

Is the weathered brass finish lacquered?

Quoizel weathered brass finishes are typically sealed with a protective lacquer to prevent further oxidation. The finish will not tarnish or darken over time under normal indoor conditions.
