Griffin 3 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Polished Chrome with Etched Glass

The Griffin is a 422mm semi-flush ceiling light from Quoizel, built with a polished chrome metal frame that holds a large etched white glass shade. Three E27 bulbs (sold separately) sit inside the shade, each capable of up to 60W. The etched glass diffuses the light across the surface, turning the entire shade into a broad light source rather than creating visible bulb hotspots.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.6m, the Griffin sits 194mm below the ceiling once fitted, which keeps it clear of head height in hallways, landings, bedrooms and living spaces where a pendant drop would be too low. The semi-flush mounting means the fitting sits closer to the ceiling than a full pendant but projects enough to create a defined architectural feature. The white-painted interior of the glass shade reflects light back through the etched surface, adding to the overall brightness.

The polished chrome frame includes curved arms that cradle the glass shade and a central boss fitting that mounts directly to a standard UK ceiling rose. The reflective finish on the chrome picks up ambient light from the room and complements contemporary, modern and minimalist interiors where chrome, glass and neutral tones dominate. The 422mm diameter gives the fitting enough visual weight for a 3m x 3m room without overwhelming smaller spaces like bathrooms or box rooms.

What bulbs does the Griffin take?

The fitting takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most buyers pair this with three warm-white LED bulbs between 8-12W and 2700K-3000K for general room lighting.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. At 194mm projection from the ceiling, the Griffin works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards, keeping the fitting clear of head height in hallways and bedrooms where a pendant drop would be impractical.

How is the shade cleaned?

The etched glass can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth when the bulbs are switched off and cool. For more stubborn marks, a standard glass cleaner can be used. Avoid abrasive cloths that might scratch the etched surface.

What size room does it suit?

The 422mm diameter and three-bulb configuration work well in rooms up to approximately 12-15 square metres, including bedrooms, hallways and smaller living spaces. Larger rooms may need supplementary lighting or multiple fittings.
