Description
The Granvena PIR sensor is a compact motion sensor in a white plastic body, made to sit on a wall and switch your lighting when it picks up movement nearby. A smooth domed hood shelters a round detector lens, giving it a neat, rounded profile that looks tidy on a painted or rendered wall. It is 7cm high and 5.5cm long, and it stands 8cm out from the wall, so it stays small and discreet. With an IP44 rating it is protected from splashing water, which means it can live outdoors on a house wall as well as indoors.
It earns its place beside a front door, along a side passage or by a garage, where you want the lights to come on as you arrive rather than hunting for a switch in the dark. Corner mounting is possible, so it can also sit on the corner of a building, which is handy where a flat stretch of wall is short or where the corner gives the clearest view of a path. Indoors, it works well in a hallway or utility room where hands are often full. It suits anyone who would rather the lighting responded to them, and the plain white finish blends quietly into white and pale walls.
The body is plastic, and plastic will not rust, which suits a wall that takes the weather. It is light too, weighing 0.135KG packed, so it is easy to handle while it is being fitted. To keep it working well, wipe the lens and hood now and then with a soft, damp cloth so dust, cobwebs and leaves do not cloud its view. The installation instructions are available as a download, so whoever fits it has the details to hand.
