Description

The Granvena PIR Sensor is a compact motion sensor switch for the outside of your home, with a black plastic housing and a ball-shaped head set with a white faceted lens. A curved hood shelters the top of the ball, and a squared back plate sits flat against the wall. It is small, 7cm high and 5.5cm long, and it stands just 8cm proud of the wall, so it tucks in neatly beside a door or close to an outdoor light without drawing the eye. It carries an IP44 rating, which means it is protected from splashing water, so it can live outdoors on a house wall.

We see it doing its best work beside a front door, along a side passage, by a garage or on a garden wall, anywhere you would rather something responded to movement than fumble for a switch in the dark. Corner mounting is possible, so you are not limited to a flat stretch of wall: where two walls meet is often the spot with the clearest line along a path or drive, and this sensor can go there. The black housing sits comfortably with dark window frames, black lanterns and pale render alike.

Plastic does not rust, which suits a small housing that spends its whole life outdoors, and the black finish runs over the hood, the back plate and the lower half of the ball. The sensor weighs 0.134KG packed, light enough to hold in one hand at the top of a ladder. The installation instructions come as a download, so you can read through the fitting before you begin.
