Description
The Gloara is a 60cm outdoor bollard light with a white powder-coated metal column and a plastic diffuser screen at the head that directs light downward. The cylindrical body sits on a circular base plate for surface mounting onto hard landscaping, decking or path edging, and the IP44 rating protects against water splashes and solid objects larger than 1mm.
Designed for pathways, driveways, patio edges and garden borders, the Gloara provides functional ground-level lighting without upward light spill that would intrude into windows or neighbouring properties. The 205mm diameter head casts a pool of light approximately 1-1.5m across at ground level, depending on bulb choice and output. Spacing bollards 2-3m apart along a path or drive creates continuous illumination without overlapping pools.
The white powder-coated finish resists corrosion in UK coastal and inland environments and provides a clean visual line in gardens with white rendered walls, pale stone paving or light-painted fencing. The four G9 bulb sockets (bulbs sold separately) allow the light output to be tailored to the application — lower-wattage LEDs for ambient path marking, higher output for security lighting along drives. The bollard accepts dimmer-compatible G9 LEDs where dimmable control is installed.
The base plate provides two fixing points for M8 bolts onto concrete, stone or composite decking. Cable entry is through the base, requiring a buried supply run to each bollard position. The 60cm height sits below typical window sill level, keeping the light source out of direct sightlines from indoor spaces while remaining tall enough to avoid being obscured by low planting or ground cover.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Gloara take?
The bollard has four G9 bulb sockets. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users install G9 LED bulbs between 2-5W each for path lighting, or 5-8W each for brighter driveway or security applications. Ensure you choose G9 LEDs rated for outdoor use if ambient temperature extremes are expected.
Is it suitable for coastal locations?
The IP44 rating provides protection against water splashes, and the powder-coated metal finish resists light corrosion. In heavy salt-spray environments (within 100m of breaking waves), periodic rinsing with fresh water will extend the finish life. The bollard is suitable for most UK coastal gardens outside the immediate spray zone.
How is it installed?
The base plate mounts to hard surfaces using two M8 bolts (fixings not supplied). Cable entry is through the base, so a buried armoured cable run is needed to each bollard position. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations for outdoor circuits.
Can it be dimmed?
Yes, if paired with dimmer-compatible G9 LED bulbs and a suitable outdoor-rated dimmer switch or control system. Check bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before purchase.
