Description

The Glassy is a 31.5cm flush ceiling light built around a hemispherical smoked glass dome mounted to a matt black metal base plate. A single E27 bulb sits inside the dome (sold separately), with the smoked glass diffusing the light outward and downward while softening the bulb's glare. The 22cm projection from the ceiling suits rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or lower where a pendant would intrude into headroom.

Designed for hallways, bathrooms, cloakrooms and small bedrooms where compact overhead lighting is needed without protruding fixtures, the Glassy pairs ambient and decorative function. The smoked glass provides partial transparency — you see the bulb shape through the tinted glass when lit, which works particularly well with decorative filament LED bulbs. The matt black base pairs with contemporary, industrial and minimalist interiors, and the IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry indoor locations only.

The metal base and glass dome construction gives the fitting a solid 1.2kg presence without feeling heavy on the ceiling. The Glassy takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 800-1000 lumens to compensate for the light absorption by the smoked glass.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating means it's suitable for dry indoor locations only. It can be used in a bathroom if installed outside zones 0, 1 and 2 (typically more than 60cm from a shower or bath). For zones closer to water sources, an IP44 or higher rated fitting is required.

Is the smoked glass completely opaque?

No. The smoked glass is translucent — you can see the outline of the bulb through the tinted dome when the light is on. This makes it particularly suited to decorative filament LED bulbs, where the bulb itself becomes part of the aesthetic.
