Gino 21W Flush Ceiling Light 45cm - Silver

Round, shallow and sitting tight against the ceiling, this fitting reads as a disc of clear crystal held on a polished silver base. The crystal is cut and set in close rows, so light breaks up as it passes through and the spread is bright and faceted rather than one flat wash. The LED and its driver are built in, which keeps the whole thing slim across its 45cm width and gives a clean line from below.

We reach for this where a pendant would hang too low or get knocked: hallways and landings, a bedroom with a modest ceiling height, a dining room, or a first floor corridor that wants light without clutter. At 24W it does the work of a main light in a medium room, and it runs at full output from an ordinary wall switch, so there is nothing to add in the way of a dimmer. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; a bathroom or a covered porch needs a sealed fitting instead. The white light here is on the cooler side, which sits well with grey, chrome and pale timber, and works hard in a hallway where you want things to feel awake.

The base and trim are metal in a polished silver, and the crystal is clear and faceted throughout. To clean, switch it off at the wall and go over the crystal with a dry microfibre cloth, working around the facets rather than across them; nothing wet and no sprays, which dull the cut edges. It carries a three year warranty. How wide is it, and how far does it drop?

It measures 450mm across and stands 80mm from the ceiling, so it stays well clear of head height in a hallway or landing.

How much light does it give out?

The integrated LED produces 2200 lumens at 4000K, a cool white that suits hallways, kitchens and dining rooms.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

No. It is not dimmable and should be wired to a standard on/off switch.

Do I need to buy a bulb?

No. The LED is integrated and the driver is internal, so the fitting arrives complete.

What is the crystal, and how do I keep it bright?

It is clear Deco Select crystal. A dry microfibre cloth over the facets is all it needs; skip glass sprays and polishes, which leave a film on cut crystal.

Is there a matching light in a smaller size?
