Description

The Gin is a 220mm table lamp built around a gold-finished metal column rising from a matt black circular base, topped with a smoked glass drum shade. A single GU10 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the drum, casting light through the tinted glass to create a warm, diffused glow with subtle amber tones from the combination of gold reflections and smoke-grey transparency.

Designed for bedside tables, side tables next to sofas, and console surfaces where a compact footprint is needed, the Gin pairs task and accent lighting in one fitting. The 250mm height positions the light source at a comfortable level for reading in bed or beside an armchair without dominating the surface. The lamp is dimmable when paired with a dimmable GU10 LED bulb and compatible dimmer switch, allowing brightness to be adjusted from full output for reading to low ambient glow in the evening.

The gold column finish contrasts with the matt black base and smoked glass shade to give the lamp a layered appearance under both daylight and when lit. The smoked glass softens the direct output of the GU10 bulb while retaining enough transparency to see the light source inside, creating a warm visual presence without harsh glare. What bulb does it take?

The Gin takes a single GU10 bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a dimmable LED GU10 between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K warm white for bedside or accent lighting. The smoked glass softens the output, so a slightly higher wattage may be preferred for reading compared to a clear-glass lamp.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a dimmable GU10 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. The lamp itself does not include dimming circuitry, so both the bulb and the wall dimmer must support dimming for the feature to work.

How does the smoked glass affect the light?

The smoked glass drum diffuses the GU10 bulb output and adds a warm amber-grey tint to the light. This reduces glare and creates a softer ambient glow compared to a clear or frosted shade, while still providing enough light for bedside reading.

Can it be used as a pair on either side of a bed?
