Description

The Gin is a 500mm table lamp built around a cylindrical matt black base topped with a wide smoked glass diffuser. A single GU10 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the glass shade, with light passing through the tinted glass to create a warm, diffused glow rather than direct downlight. The black finish extends across the base, column and top plate, with the smoked glass providing the only tonal contrast.

Designed for console tables, sideboards and bedside positions where ambient rather than task lighting is needed, the Gin suits living rooms, bedrooms and hallway furniture where a 320mm diameter footprint can sit comfortably. At 500mm tall and 5kg in weight, the lamp has enough physical presence to anchor one end of a console or sideboard without needing to be paired symmetrically. The GU10 fitting accepts any standard GU10 LED or halogen bulb up to the stated maximum wattage, giving flexibility to choose colour temperature and brightness.

The smoked glass shade is a single piece of tinted glass rather than layered panels, so the tint depth is consistent across the full circumference. The matt black metal finish absorbs rather than reflects light, keeping attention on the glow from the glass rather than reflections on the base. The lamp is dimmable when paired with a dimmable GU10 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit, allowing output to be adjusted for evening ambience or brighter reading light.

What bulb does the Gin take?

The lamp takes a single GU10 bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GU10 between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting. The smoked glass tint reduces perceived brightness, so a slightly higher wattage than you might choose for a clear glass shade often works better.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a dimmable GU10 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit. The lamp itself does not include dimming controls. Dimming is controlled at the wall switch or inline dimmer.

What's the difference between the small and large Gin lamps?

The large Gin measures 500mm tall with a 320mm diameter shade. The small Gin is shorter and narrower, better suited to smaller bedside tables or tighter console positions. Both use the same smoked glass and black finish.

How is the smoked glass cleaned?

Wipe the glass with a dry microfibre cloth when the lamp is switched off and cool. For fingerprints or stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the metal-to-glass joints and do not use household glass cleaners or sprays that might damage the metal finish.
