Description

The Gedrez is a set of ten round LED downlights, each with a low-profile satin nickel bezel framing a clear plastic lens. Every light is 9cm across, and the head tilts within its bezel, so you can angle the beam towards a picture, a shelf or a doorway. The body and lens are plastic, and the LEDs are integrated, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace. Each downlight draws 4.9W and gives 520 lumens. The IP20 rating settles where they belong: these are lights for indoor rooms such as living rooms, hallways and bedrooms.

Ten matching lights let you light a whole room or run a neat line along a hallway or landing. The colour temperature is adjustable, with settings of 2700K for a warm, relaxed glow in a living room or bedroom, 4000K for a neutral white that suits a study or home office, and 6500K for a crisp, cool daylight tone. That choice lets you match the light to each room, so you can have a cosy glow in one room and cooler light where you work. The tilting heads are a real help if you hang art: aim a row of them at a wall and each picture gets its own pool of light.

Each downlight needs a 6.8cm cut-out in the ceiling and only 2.5cm of depth behind it, which makes them a good choice where there is little space in the ceiling void. Spring clips hold each light in its hole. These downlights are not dimmable and have no switch of their own: they are switched at the wall, so your existing light switch controls them. As mains lights wired into the ceiling, they are installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, the full set weighs 0.826KG. Measure the ceiling depth before you buy, so every light sits neatly in place.
