Description

Frilvora is a traditional outdoor wall light in a brown finish with fine copper edging, built from zinc-plated steel. A wide cone-shaped shade sits over a rounded globe of clear glass with tiny air bubbles, and the whole lantern hangs from a curved arm fixed to a round wall plate. It is 26.5cm long and 25.5cm high, and it stands 28cm out from the wall. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulb is not included. The IP44 rating means it is protected from splashing water, so it lives outdoors on the wall of your house.

We think it looks most at home beside a front door, over a back step or along a garden wall. It can also be mounted on a corner, which is handy where a path turns the side of a building or where two walls of a porch meet. The brown and copper colouring sits comfortably against brick, stone and painted render, and it suits cottages, farmhouses and period homes. The bubbled glass gives the globe a softly textured look, so even in daylight the lantern has some character on the wall. Fitted by the door, it gives a welcoming glow for finding keys after dark.

The body is zinc-plated steel, and zinc plating helps steel resist rust. Thin copper lines pick out the rims of the shade, the collar and the wall plate, and a ribbed band sits beneath the top cap. There is no switch on the lantern itself: it is switched at the wall, so you control it from a wall switch. This is a hardwired mains light, so a qualified electrician should install it, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 1.562KG.
