Description

The Focus S is a single recessed spotlight with a cylindrical matte gold head mounted in a black aluminium bezel, designed to sit flush with ceiling plasterboard. The spotlight takes a GU10 bulb (sold separately) rated up to 10W and features a 360° swivel mechanism that allows the light to be directed anywhere within the ceiling plane once installed.

Designed for task lighting and accent lighting in residential and commercial interiors, the Focus S suits kitchen worktop lighting, gallery walls, hallway navigation lighting, and focused illumination in home offices. The recessed fitting requires a cut-out in the ceiling void with sufficient clearance above for the 123mm body height. The IP20 rating limits installation to dry internal spaces only.

The contrast between the matte gold inner cylinder and the black outer bezel gives the fitting a two-tone industrial character that pairs well with exposed brick, concrete, dark joinery and contemporary monochrome schemes. The aluminium body weighs approximately 200g, making it light enough for standard plasterboard ceilings without needing additional bracing. The recessed light source minimises glare compared to surface-mounted spotlights, directing light downward and outward rather than into the eye line.

The Focus S takes a GU10 bulb up to 10W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GU10 between 5-7W and 2700K-3000K for residential installations, or 4000K-5000K for task lighting in offices and kitchens.

How much ceiling void clearance is needed?

The spotlight body extends 123mm above the ceiling surface once recessed, so a minimum void clearance of 150mm is recommended to allow space for the bulb, heat dissipation and wiring connections.

Can the light direction be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The matte gold cylinder swivels 360° within the black bezel, allowing the light to be redirected at any time without removing the fitting or cutting power.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is designed for dry internal spaces only and is not protected against moisture ingress. For bathrooms, a higher IP-rated recessed spotlight (IP44 or above) is required.
