Description

The Focus S is a 52mm diameter surface-mounted cylindrical downlight finished in matte gold aluminium. The fixed fitting houses a single GU10 bulb (sold separately) and projects 100mm from the ceiling, delivering directed downward light for accent, task or feature illumination. The cylindrical body conceals the lamp housing and directs light through a 52mm aperture at the base.

Designed for rooms where recessed downlights cannot be fitted due to shallow ceiling voids or solid concrete ceilings, the Focus S mounts directly to the ceiling surface using a concealed back plate. The fixed orientation suits positions above kitchen worktops, bathroom mirrors, artwork, hallway alcoves and corridor runs where accent lighting is needed without adjustability. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations only.

The matte gold finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with brass hardware, warm timber and contemporary interiors using gold or champagne tones. The aluminium construction keeps the fitting lightweight at approximately 200g despite the 100mm projection. The GU10 base accepts any standard GU10 LED, halogen or low-energy bulb up to 10W, giving control over colour temperature and beam angle depending on the chosen lamp.

Can the downlight be angled or tilted?

No. The Focus S is a fixed downlight with no tilt or rotation adjustment. The light projects straight down from the ceiling. If adjustability is required, Maytoni produces tiltable surface-mounted spotlights in similar finishes.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 10W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a GU10 LED between 5-7W in 3000K warm white for general accent lighting, or 4000K neutral white for task lighting in kitchens.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the fitting has no water ingress protection and is suitable only for dry indoor locations. It cannot be used in bathroom zones where moisture or direct water spray is present.

How is it installed?

The downlight mounts to the ceiling surface using a concealed back plate fixed with screws into the ceiling material. The GU10 lamp holder connects to mains supply via a cable entry point in the back plate. Installation requires basic electrical competence or a qualified electrician.
