Description
The Fluxen is a 500mm white outdoor bollard light built from powder-coated aluminium with a GX53 bulb fitting at the head. The IP55 rating provides dust protection and resistance to water jets from any direction, making it suitable for garden pathways, patio edges and driveway lighting where the bollard is exposed to rain, garden irrigation and ground splash.
Designed for path-marking and low-level ambient lighting rather than flood illumination, the Fluxen casts light downwards onto the ground through a frosted diffuser panel in the top housing. The 175mm square footprint allows it to be positioned close to path edges or between paving slabs without obstructing walkways. The aluminium body resists corrosion in coastal and high-moisture environments better than steel equivalents, and the white finish reflects daylight to keep the bollard visible even when switched off.
The GX53 fitting accepts dimmable LED lamps up to 11W (sold separately), giving control over brightness for different times of evening or different functional needs. The base plate has pre-drilled fixing holes for bolting onto concrete pads, decking or paving, and the electrical cable enters through a gland in the base, keeping the connection sealed from moisture ingress. The 500mm height positions the light source below typical sightlines when standing, reducing glare for people walking past.
Ideal Lux manufactures the Fluxen in Italy and backs it with a 5-year warranty. The aluminium construction gives the bollard a lightweight profile of approximately 1.2kg, making it easier to handle during installation than heavier cast-iron or concrete-filled bollard designs.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP55 rating mean for outdoor use?
IP55 provides dust protection (the first 5) and resistance to water jets from any direction (the second 5). This makes the Fluxen suitable for garden pathways, patios and driveways where it will be exposed to rain, garden hose spray and ground splash, but it is not designed for submersion or continuous high-pressure washing.
What bulb does it take?
The Fluxen uses a GX53 bulb up to 11W, sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GX53 disc between 7-9W and 2700K-3000K for path lighting. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmable GX53 bulb and dimmer switch.
How is it mounted?
The base plate has pre-drilled fixing holes for bolting onto a concrete pad, paving slab or decking surface. The electrical cable enters through a sealed gland in the base, so the wiring connection must be made before the bollard is fully secured. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
How much light does it give?
The Fluxen is designed for path-marking and low-level ambient lighting, not flood illumination. Light output depends on the GX53 bulb chosen — a typical 9W LED GX53 produces around 800-900 lumens, enough to mark a path edge or light a 2-3m section of pathway without creating harsh glare.
