Flare 2 Light Crystal Wall Light - Gold

The Flare is a 2-light wall light built around alternating faceted crystal rods in clear and smoked tones, mounted on a gold metal frame. Two E14 bulb fittings (bulbs sold separately) sit within the crystal assembly, casting light through the multi-faceted surfaces to produce refractive patterns on surrounding walls. The alternating clear and smoked crystal creates tonal contrast when lit, with the clear sections producing brighter refraction and the smoked sections diffusing a warmer amber glow.

Designed for hallways, living rooms and bedrooms where decorative wall lighting adds ambient layering without needing a pendant, the Flare mounts to a standard UK back box and projects 12.5cm from the wall when fitted. The 27cm height and 22.3cm width suit wall positions at eye level (approximately 1.5-1.8m from floor level) where the crystal refractions are visible from seated or standing positions. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor areas only.

Each crystal rod is bevelled and precision-cut to maximise internal refraction, so the wall light produces more sparkle than smooth glass equivalents when illuminated. The gold finish on the metal frame provides a warmer tone than polished chrome or nickel variants and pairs well with brass door furniture, warm-toned timber and traditional or transitional interiors. The frame holds the crystal assembly securely while allowing light to pass through gaps between the rods, preventing the fitting from appearing as a solid block when viewed from the side. At 40W maximum per E14 socket, the Flare works with LED candle bulbs between 4-6W for everyday use or higher-wattage halogen candle bulbs where brighter task light is needed.

What bulbs does the Flare take?

The fitting takes two E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs, maximum 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K colour temperature to complement the gold frame and produce warm refraction through the crystal.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The Flare carries an IP20 rating, which means it is designed for dry indoor areas only and is not protected against moisture ingress. It is not suitable for bathrooms, shower rooms or other high-humidity zones.

How does the smoked crystal affect the light output?

The smoked (amber-tinted) crystal rods diffuse light with a warmer amber glow compared to the clear rods, which produce brighter, whiter refraction. When both bulbs are lit, the combination creates tonal variation across the wall light, with some sections appearing warmer and others cooler depending on viewing angle.

What height should it be mounted at?

Wall lights are typically mounted at eye level when standing, approximately 1.5-1.8m from floor level. This places the crystal refractions at a height where they are visible from seated or standing positions and prevents the fitting from being mounted too high or too low relative to typical sight lines in a room.
