Description

The Knightsbridge fire-rated IP65 shower downlight is a GU10 recessed fitting with a brass bezel, built for wet zones and fire compartment ceilings. The IP65 rating on the front face allows installation in bathroom zones 1 and 2 where direct water spray is present, while the IP20 rating from above permits insulation to rest directly against the fitting's back box without overheating risk.

Designed for residential bathrooms, shower rooms and wet zones in commercial settings, the fitting meets Building Regulations Part B and is tested to BS476 Parts 21 and 23 for fire integrity. It achieves 30-minute fire resistance in web-joist and I-joist ceilings, 60-minute in solid timber, and 90-minute in standard solid timber constructions. The 70mm cut-out diameter suits standard ceiling joist spacing and the 118mm recessed depth fits typical void depths above plasterboard ceilings.

The die-cast aluminium and pressed steel construction gives the fitting structural rigidity for repeated lamp changes. A twist-and-lock front ring secures the GU10 bulb in place and the brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with brass taps, towel rails and traditional bathroom fittings. Electrical termination is via a 10A connector block within a secure enclosure with cord grip, and spring clips fix the unit to the ceiling with a recommended maximum plasterboard thickness of 30mm. The fitting accepts GU10 halogen, LED or CFL bulbs up to 35W (sold separately), with dimmability depending on the bulb chosen.

Yes. The IP65 front face rating permits installation in bathroom zones 1 and 2 where direct water spray is present, making it suitable for fitting directly above or adjacent to a shower head.

What fire rating does it carry?

The fitting is tested to BS476 Parts 21 and 23 and meets Building Regulations Part B. It achieves 30-minute fire resistance in web-joist and I-joist ceilings, 60-minute in solid timber, and 90-minute in standard solid timber constructions.

Can insulation touch the back of the fitting?

Dimming depends on the GU10 bulb you fit. Pair with a dimmable GU10 LED and a compatible dimmer switch to achieve dimming. The fitting itself does not restrict dimmer compatibility.
