The Filbessa is a wooden pendant light with a shade built from thin, curved slats of maple-coloured wood, gathered into a slim neck at the top and swelling out into a wide, rounded bulb shape. A black steel canopy, a black cable and a black lampholder give a crisp contrast against the warm wood. It measures 110cm high overall and 38cm in diameter across the shade. It takes an E27 bulb up to a maximum of 40W, and the bulb is not included, so the choice is yours. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

Hung over a dining table or a kitchen island, it gives the room a warm, natural focal point, and its earthy tones sit comfortably with wooden furniture, linen, plants and pale walls. Because the slats are open, light escapes between them as well as downwards, so the shade casts a soft, patterned glow rather than one hard pool of light.
