Description

This is a spot head for single circuit track, small enough to sit quietly along a run and bright enough to do proper work. The body is white, a plain cylinder measuring 65mm across, with the LED and its driver built in, so there is nothing further to add. The light is warm at 3000K, nearer the colour of a household lamp than the crisper light often used in shops, and it is not dimmable, so pair it with a plain switch.

We reach for heads like this when a room wants light in particular places rather than a broad wash from the middle of the ceiling: over a kitchen worktop, along a run of shelving, above a stair, or across a wall of pictures. Set several along a track and you can put 15W of light exactly where it earns its keep, while the warm tone flatters wood, brick and painted plaster. It suits kitchens, hallways, home offices and sitting rooms, and it is useful in a loft conversion where a hanging fitting would be in the way.

The white finish is even and unfussy, so the head reads as part of the ceiling rather than something suspended from it. Give the face of the head a wipe with a dry cloth now and then, as dust gathers on a spot faster than on most fittings and quietly dulls the beam. Double insulated and made for dry rooms indoors, it should be kept clear of shower zones and anything exposed to weather. It carries a five year warranty.
