Description

Track lighting earns its keep when you can aim it, and this black head does exactly that: a tight, well defined beam of warm white light from an integral LED, with the driver already inside the body. At 30W it is the brightest head in the Fiji range, so it throws further down a long room or up a tall wall than the smaller versions. The head measures 80mm across, which keeps it a small, purposeful cylinder rather than a bulky one. It is made for three circuit track, so heads can be switched in groups.

We reach for a head like this in kitchens with an island, in open plan rooms where the seating and the dining table want lighting separately, and anywhere artwork or a run of shelving deserves proper attention. The narrow beam is the point: it lands light where you want it and leaves the rest of the room calmer, which suits galleries, studios and shops as readily as homes. Output is fixed rather than dimmed, so it is best where you want a decisive level of light at the flick of a switch.

It is a dry indoor fitting, sized for hallways, living rooms and retail interiors rather than porches or bathrooms. Wipe the head over now and then with a dry microfibre cloth to keep dust off the lens, with the power off first; solvents and polishes are not needed on the black finish. It carries a five year warranty. We stock the range in white as well as black, in lower outputs where a gentler pool of light suits better, and in a cooler white for kitchens and workshops, so a whole track can be mixed to taste.
