Description

A small black spot head for three circuit track, with the LED and its driver built in. The light is warm at 3000K, nearer the tone of an old filament lamp than daylight, and the beam is narrow, so it lays down a defined pool rather than washing a whole room. At 15W there is plenty in it for a painting, a run of worktop or a shelf of glass. The body is a short cylinder finished in matt black, which keeps it discreet against dark track. It is not dimmable.

Narrow beams earn their keep where the eye needs pulling to something: artwork along a hallway, a mantelpiece, the front of a bar, the working end of a kitchen island. Galleries and shops run them in rows, and the same trick works at home in an open plan kitchen or a study, where several heads on a single length of track can be aimed separately and re-aimed when the furniture moves. We reach for a spot like this where a pendant would crowd the room or send light the wrong way. Warm white flatters timber, brass and skin tones, so it suits a living room as readily as a shop floor.

It is a double insulated fitting and the black finish runs over the whole head. Keep it clean by switching off at the wall and passing a soft dry cloth over the body and lens; solvents and sprays will do more harm than good. It carries a five year warranty. The same head is stocked in white, and in a cooler white light where a kitchen or workshop wants a crisper note, with a higher output version if a single head has to cover more ground.
