Description

The Fasvette is a traditional six-sided lantern for an outside wall, with a black cast aluminium body, clear glass panels, a sloping roof with flared eaves and a small finial on top. It stands 36cm tall and 16.5cm long, and projects 21.5cm from the wall, so it sits neatly beside a front door. The lantern rises upright from a curved wall arm, with a motion sensor tucked beneath it. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 60W, and the bulb is not included, so you can choose the colour of light you prefer. With an IP44 rating it is protected from splashing water, so it lives outdoors on a house wall.

Because the motion sensor switches the light on when it picks up movement, it suits a front door, a back door, a side passage or a garage wall, where you want light as you arrive home or step out to the bins, without leaving a lamp burning all evening. Corner mounting is also possible, so the corner of a house or garage is an option too. The black frame and clear glass give a classic coach-lantern look that sits comfortably on brick, render or stone. Because the panels are clear, the bulb itself is on show, so a decorative filament bulb is well worth considering.

The body is cast aluminium, and aluminium does not rust the way iron and steel do, which matters on a wall that faces the weather. The black finish sits well alongside black gutters, door furniture and other outdoor fittings. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, and as a wired-in light it is installed by a qualified electrician. Packed, it weighs 0.997kg. The installation instructions come as a download, so they can be read ahead of the day.
