Description

The Farnleigh semi-flush ceiling light spreads six ribbed and frosted glass shades along a satin brass frame, giving you a long bar of light rather than a single central point. It runs 1205mm end to end and 600mm across, yet drops only 230mm from the ceiling, which is why a semi-flush fitting like this earns its keep in rooms with limited head height. Six G9 lamps at 3W each in LED sit behind the glass, and because the glass is both ribbed and frosted you see a soft glow instead of six bright points. The whole fitting weighs 2.2kg.

This is the answer when a room needs the light of a wide pendant but cannot take the drop. Over a long dining table, a kitchen island or a run of worktop it puts light along the length rather than in one pool; in a bedroom or a hallway with a ceiling under about 2.4m it clears heads where a hanging fitting would not. The flush profile also suits sloped or low beamed ceilings, and the satin brass warms up a white or off white ceiling. Six lamps spread over 1205mm give even coverage without any single point feeling harsh.

The frame is metal in a satin brass finish, matt enough not to show every mark, and the shades are glass, ribbed on the outside and frosted to diffuse the light. Wipe the glass with a soft damp cloth and dry it straight away, and use a dry cloth only on the brass; solvent cleaners and abrasive pads will spoil both. It is a Class 2 double insulated fitting, so no earth connection is needed.
