Description
The Estalacta is a 660mm outdoor table lamp built around three elongated opal white polyethylene columns of staggered heights, rising from a circular silver-finished base. Each column houses a GU10 downlight fitting that illuminates the translucent polyethylene from within, turning the material itself into the light source. The IP44 rating protects the internal wiring and lamp holders from rain and spray, making the lamp suitable for covered outdoor dining tables, terrace side tables and sheltered patio zones.
Designed for outdoor entertaining and ambient lighting rather than task illumination, the Estalacta suits outdoor dining areas where a central sculptural light source replaces candles or lanterns, covered balconies needing vertical accent lighting, and garden lounge zones with overhead shelter from pergolas or awnings. The 240mm base diameter provides stability on flat surfaces without needing a weighted anchor, and the 3.5kg mass resists tipping in moderate wind when placed on a solid table. The lamp connects to mains voltage via a trailing cable (intended to be routed through a table grommet or under a tablecloth) and requires three GU10 bulbs sold separately.
The polyethylene body resists UV degradation, temperature cycling and moisture better than glass or ceramic alternatives, making it practical for seasonal outdoor use in the UK climate. The silver base finish is powder-coated metal rather than brushed steel, giving a consistent tone that resists corrosion. When fitted with warm-white GU10 LEDs between 2700K-3000K, the opal columns diffuse light evenly along their length without visible hotspots at the lamp position, creating a soft glow rather than directional beams. Dimmable GU10 bulbs paired with a compatible dimmer allow brightness adjustment from full ambient light during dining to low-level accent lighting later in the evening.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 means the lamp is protected against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered outdoor areas like pergolas, awnings and roofed terraces, but it should not be left fully exposed to heavy rain or placed in areas where water can pool around the base.
What bulbs does it take?
The Estalacta takes three GU10 bulbs, sold separately. Most users fit warm-white LED GU10s between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient outdoor lighting. The polyethylene columns diffuse the light, so higher-wattage bulbs are not necessary and may create excessive heat inside the columns.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, when fitted with dimmable GU10 bulbs and connected to a compatible dimmer switch. This allows the light level to be adjusted from full brightness during outdoor dining to low ambient glow later in the evening.
Can it be left outside year-round?
The polyethylene construction and IP44 rating allow the lamp to withstand UK weather when placed in a sheltered position. For maximum lifespan, bring the lamp indoors during winter months or periods of non-use, particularly in areas exposed to freezing temperatures or persistent wet conditions.
