Description

The ESP Beacon Assist Call module is an IP56-rated emergency call plate built around a red mushroom-head push button housed in a bright yellow polycarbonate enclosure measuring 125mm wide by 85mm deep. The unit is designed for installation in disabled toilets, accessible washrooms, shower rooms and other wet environments where BS8300 compliance is required and ingress protection against water jets is needed.

The module mounts to the wall via the included surface mount back box, with cable entry through a top conduit gland and four corner fixing points. Once activated, the mushroom button latches in the pressed position until manually reset by turning the button head clockwise, providing a clear visual indication that assistance has been called. The module is not compatible with cancel plates and must be wired directly into an assisted call system control panel.

The polycarbonate housing resists impact and moisture ingress to IP56 standard, meaning it can withstand low-pressure water jets from any direction and remains dust-tight under normal operation. The bright yellow casing and contrasting red button provide high-visibility identification in dimly-lit or emergency situations. The 185mm overall height includes the top gland fitting, allowing the unit to be positioned at the BS8300-recommended height of 800-1000mm from finished floor level to the button centre.

Frequently Asked

What does IP56 mean for this call module?

IP56 indicates the housing is completely dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for wet room environments including accessible showers, washrooms and disabled toilets where water spray is expected.

How is the button reset after activation?

The mushroom button latches when pushed and remains in the pressed position until manually reset. To reset, turn the red mushroom head clockwise approximately 90 degrees until it pops back out to the ready position.

Is this compatible with a cancel plate?

No. This module is designed to be wired directly to an assisted call system control panel and does not support connection to a separate cancel plate. For installations requiring a cancel function, a different module variant is needed.

What height should it be installed at?

BS8300 recommends emergency call buttons be positioned 800-1000mm from finished floor level to the centre of the button. This allows the module to be reached from a seated position on a toilet or shower seat while remaining accessible to standing users.
