Description

Two clear glass shades sit either side of an antique brass frame, throwing light out along the wall in both directions. The glass is plain and unfussy, which lets the brass carry the colour: warm, softly aged, closer to old door furniture than to anything shiny. It measures 37cm across, wide enough to hold a stretch of wall on its own, and the projection is shallow so it stays close to the plane of the room. Each shade is lit by a G9 capsule.

Hallways, landings and bedrooms are where this one earns its place, whether that is a pair flanking a bed or a single fitting above a chest of drawers. It also works well over a sideboard or beside a chimney breast in a sitting room, where two small sources give a softer wash than one bright ceiling light. We would put LED capsules in it and pair it with dimmable versions on a dimmer if you want the level to drop in the evening; there is no switch on the body, so it runs from the room's own switching.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, with clear glass shades that show the lamps and the brass behind them. Keep it dry: dust the metal with a soft cloth, and if the glass picks up marks, take it off the light where it lifts free, wash and dry it properly before it goes back. It is an indoor fitting for ordinary household wiring, and it needs an earth connection. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same wall light in polished chrome, and the wider Elm range runs to matching table and floor lamps and semi ceiling fittings, plus single left and right hand wall lights if you want a smaller pair.
